The Discworld author said his typing was no longer as fast and his spelling had become erratic. Robert Asprin, author of Myth Adventures, featuring Skeeve, wanna-be magician, and his mentor, Aahz, passed away on May 22, 2008.
MythAdventures.net: On May 22, 2008, Bob passed away quietly in his home in New Orleans, LA. He had been in good spirits and working on several new projects, and was set to be the Guest of Honor at a major science fiction convention that very weekend. He is survived by his mother, his sister, his daughter and his son, and his cat, Princess, not to mention countless friends and fans and numerous legendary fictional characters.
He will be greatly missed. | |

George R.R. Martin posted some news regarding the adaptation of his Song Of Ice And Fire series on his Not A Blog.
David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have turned in the second draft of the pilot script for A GAME OF THRONES, and their rewrite is presently being read and evaluated by the powers-that-be at HBO. Also: HBO has reached agreement with the BBC for them to come in as a partner on the series... IF it goes ahead.

| News: News in Movies: Hobbit Movie Cast |
Telegraph.co.uk: Sir Ian McKellen will reprise the role of Gandalf the wizard for two films to be made based on Tolkien's classic book The Hobbit, it has been confirmed. The two movies - The Hobbit and a sequel which has yet to be named - will be filmed in New Zealand and released in 2011 and 2012.
Andy Serkis, the actor who played Gollum with the help of digital wizardry, will also return for the Hobbit film, but other characters have yet to be decided.

OrlandoSentinel: An 800-word Harry Potter prequel is one of 13 card-sized works to be sold at a charity auction in London. Waterstone's Booksellers Ltd. says the cream-colored A5 papers - each slightly bigger than a postcard - were distributed to 13 authors and illustrators, including the boy wizard's creator J.K. Rowling, Nobel Prize winner Doris Lessing, novelist Margaret Atwood and playwright Tom Stoppard. Rowling used both sides of her card to hand-write a prequel to her seven-book Harry Potter saga. | |
